Why we exist
Most bariatric surgical programmes are excellent inside the operating room. The gap patients describe most often is what happens after discharge — the months and years when the surgery is done, the immediate post-op appointments taper off, and long-term nutrition, symptom management, weight-regain risk, and quality-of-life questions become daily work.
PureBariatric fills that support gap. We are education and self-management support that complements, and never replaces, the care your bariatric team provides.

How we work
Every published claim is grounded in publicly available clinical guidelines from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Obesity Canada, the AACE/TOS/ASMBS/OMA/ASA peri-operative guideline, ISSN protein position statements, BOMSS post-op nutrition guidance, and peer-reviewed literature. Every source is logged in our Methodology & citation log, and every service boundary is disclosed on our Scope of Practice page.
All content is published in English, French, and Spanish so patients can use it in the language they think in.
Who runs it
PureBariatric is operated by 2800977 Alberta Inc., a Canadian corporation. The platform was built by Danielle Gale, a Canadian nurse and bariatric-trained health and wellness educator, in response to the long-term-support gap patients navigate outside their surgical programme.
Detailed founder credentials, professional registration, and clinical scope are disclosed on each coaching-track page — see Canadian coaching or international coaching for the full disclosure.
My story
Hi, I'm Danielle — and I built PureBariatric because of my own story, so it's worth telling you whose voice you've been reading.
I'm a woman in my 40s who has spent the last several years working through my own health in almost every way a body can be challenged — infertility and successful rounds of IVF, a hysterectomy after years of endometriosis, and then perimenopause, which brought a kind of weight resistance I'd never experienced. I know what it feels like to do everything “right” and still not see the scale move — and to wonder if the problem is your willpower when the actual problem is your biology.
Working through my own metabolic health journey — the real, unglamorous kind, with a lot of trial and error — is the reason PureBariatric exists. Not because I wanted to sell a program. Because I wished something like this had existed for me years earlier.
Professionally, I'm a Canadian Registered Nurse (BSN), nursing since 2005, with a background that includes labour and delivery, surgical services, and bariatric-focused settings. Everything PureBariatric publishes is grounded in published guidelines from ASMBS, Obesity Canada, and peer-reviewed literature — not in my personal clinical experience. What I bring is the discipline to translate that published evidence into plain language, and the lived perspective of having worked through my own metabolic health the hard way. Both belong in the room.
