Track protein, fluids, meals, and supplements across four food databases — not generic calorie counters designed for people who haven't had surgery.
Most apps track calories. PureBariatric tracks what actually matters after surgery — protein first, every meal, every day.
Switch between Health Canada CNF, USDA FoodData Central, and Open Food Facts (UK & EU). One app, every region — all databases accessible everywhere.
Scan any food package — searches CNF, USDA, and Open Food Facts automatically. Boost, Premier Protein, Glucerna, Optifast, Sperri, and Nuvovi fill instantly.
Take a photo of your meal and nutrients auto-fill from the food database. Meal replacement shakes are recognised by label name instantly.
Visual cup-by-cup fluid tracker (8 × 250 ml) and protein progress bar — the two most critical metrics for bariatric patients, always front and centre.
Log your daily vitamins and supplements — Multivitamin, Vit D, B1, B12, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, and more. Essential for bariatric nutritional compliance.
Dedicated tab for your pre-op or post-op liquid diet phase. Enter your dietician's prescription, track daily shake intake, broth, and approved vegetables with built-in portion limits.
Generate bariatric-friendly weekly meal plans with 20 built-in recipes, sample photos, full instructions, and a grocery shopping list — or search the internet for more recipes.
Boost High Protein, Boost Mega, Premier Protein, Glucerna, Optifast, Sperri, and Nuvovi — tap to auto-fill every macro field. Also integrates with the Liquid Diet planner.
Install as a PWA on iPhone or Android — launches from your home screen with no browser bar. Log meals between appointments with no signal required. Your data never leaves your device.
Full trilingual interface — every label, button, and prompt in EN, FR, and ES. Switch instantly from the top bar. The only bariatric journal built for francophone and Hispanic communities.
Download your full food log as a spreadsheet or save a backup copy — share your nutrition history with your bariatric care team at any time.
Point your camera at any meal — AI identifies every food item and loads full nutritional data automatically. No typing, no searching, no guessing.

Yes. Once installed as a PWA (Add to Home Screen), the app runs fully offline. Meal replacement shake data is built into the app. CNF searches and AI identification require an internet connection.
iPhone / iPad (Safari): Open purebariatric.com in Safari → tap the Share button (the box with an arrow at the bottom of the screen) → scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen → tap Add. The app icon will appear on your home screen and open like a native app.
Android (Chrome): Open purebariatric.com in Chrome → tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner → tap Add to Home screen → tap Add. You may also see an automatic install banner at the bottom of the screen — tap Install there instead.
Once installed, the app works fully offline between meals and launches without a browser address bar.
The Liquid Diet tab is designed for the pre-op and early post-op phases when your dietician prescribes a full liquid diet. You can enter your prescription details (duration: 2, 4, or 6 weeks), how many shakes per day, and which meal replacement shake you're prescribed. It also tracks your daily broth intake and approved vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, cabbage, celery, cucumbers, salad greens, lettuce, and spinach) with portion limits built in, plus a hydration reminder.
The supplements tracker includes: Multivitamin, Vitamin D, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B12, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin K, Magnesium, and a free-text "Other" field. Bariatric patients are typically required to take several of these daily for life — the tracker helps you stay consistent.
All journal data is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage. Nothing is sent to any server. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics tracking your meals.
Absolutely — the app works for anyone following a bariatric-style eating plan, including pre-op preparation phases. The Liquid Diet tab is specifically designed for the pre-op and early post-op diet phases. The calorie tracker is optional and off by default, since many bariatric programs recommend not counting calories.
